Lavender Season Is here:
While hay farming is still a vital and enjoyable part of The Eliot Estate, purple rows grow alongside the family tradition.
we broke ground on The Fields. After Alyssa's trip to the French countryside in 2019, France evoked a beautiful stirring. Despite the lack of century old stone cottages and villages, there were many similarities of the French countryside to Amish Country, Ohio. Rolling lush hills, a rich history/culture, and workable farmland.
After day dreaming of the renowned lavender fields of France (despite never setting eyes on them in person prior to 2024), Alyssa knew that if she was going to bring France to Amish Country, Ohio- lavender needed to be a part of the plan. With no knowledge of growing or harvesting lavender, we decided to take the lavender leap.
The overall plan/design for The Fields will be made up of four quadrants of lavender. We currently have two of the four planted and will continue to plant through the seasons. Our 200' long lavender rows currently hold the following varieties: Munstead, Royal Velvet, Folgate, Melissa, Grosso, Hidcote, Sweet Romance & Provence.
